For those who travel to engage in culinary pursuits, the Turkish cuisine is worthy of exploration.  It is a rare art which satisfies the senses while reconfirming the higher order of society, community and culture.  The evolution of this glorious cuisine was not an accident, it was a result of the combination of 3 key elements:

  1. A nurturing environment: Turkey is know for an abundance and diversity of food due to its rich flora, fauna and regional differentiation. 
  2. The legacy of an imperial kitchen: Hundreds of cooks, all specializing in different types of ottoman dishes, and all eager to please the royal palate, no doubt had their influence in perfecting the Turkish cuisine as we know it today.
  3. The longevity of social organization: The Turkish state of Anatolia is a millennium old, and so is its cuisine.

The most well-known Turkish food products are Turkish coffee, Turkish Tea, Turkish delight, baklava, oil olive and meze dishes.  The popularity of Mediterranean diet has also brought attention to the Turkish kitchen, which has an excellent source of meals for those who follow the Mediterranean diet.
